About
The Horton Company, Pittsburgh
The Horton Company is a manufacturer of electrically operated fluid control valves. Originating in the 1930's in Pittsburgh's historic Strip District, Horton first manufactured and sold washing machines. The company soon shifted its product line to replacement water valves for residential and commercial washing machines, dishwashers and icemakers. The "new" Horton Company was born in 1989 when it was acquired by Roy Gavert and Roy Wennerholm. Roy Gavert is a former Executive Vice President of Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Roy Wennerholm is the former Chairman and CEO of Joy Technologies, Inc. In 1996, Horton relocated to a larger and more modern site of over 25,000 sq. ft. This facility allows Horton room for expansion as its customer base continues to grow. Under the direction of the new owners, The Horton Company has evolved into a 21st century supplier, focusing on Quality and Customer Satisfaction, with innovative products that are technologically compliant.
